AHS Band Week One Reflection

Dear Parents and Students,

Our first week back with band practice has been terrific! Students pull up in vehicles, complete a Covid-19 symptom check using a QR Code reading app on their phones. We take their temperature using a non-touch thermometer. Students are wearing masks and doing a great job maintaining social distance! We are still meeting in small groups, but students are learning fast and we are progressing.

Kudos to the trumpet section! They had 10 freshmen trumpets come to camp this first week! So far, that is a record for our sections! Keep up the great work.

Parents, we are working very hard every day to keep your children safe. Please encourage your children to practice their instruments and practice the marching fundamentals that we are teaching in camp.

Please take the time to read the “Summer Survival” and Band Camp info in the website. Students need to be sure that they are drinking plenty of water throughout the day and eating breakfast! We need their bodies it top condition for their own health, and for Marching Band.

There have been lots of questions about Band Fees, Get Fit Day, etc. Please join us for our Zoom Band Booster Meeting Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm. We will be going over all these topics and more.

Thank you

Michael Hejny
